Petra Hayden released an acapella cover of the Beach Boys' "God Only Knows" recently that fought it out in a no-holds-barred knife fight with her cover of the Who's "Armenia, City in the Sky" (part of her brilliant cover of the full Who Sells Out album) for supremacy in the Petra Hayden part of my heart*, yet didn't win.

Armenia reigned supreme.

Then I went to the music player on her site and listened to her cover of...wait for it..."Thriller".

Armenia best rest up while I put Thriller into heavy rotation on my iPod. I think another fight is a-comin'.

An utterly astonishing video featuring lions, buffalo, and a few surprise guests. Do not stop watching part way in--it doesn't have the ending you might be expecting.

I've wanted to mess around with a new programming language for a while. Thanks to Hackety Hack, it looks like it might be Ruby. Fun. (via Waxy)

Jason asked for seven random facts. Since I'm not a big fan of blog-memes, I am happy to monkeywrench and take advantage of his otherwise lack of direction. Hence, seven random facts:

1) The world's deepest hole is the Kola Superdeep Borehole, currently penetrating more than 28,000 feet into the Earth.

2) Clocks can be made of ordinary everyday items found in a prison.

3) Pigs and horses have been allowed on planes as service animals.

4) Google's first web page was not that useful.

5) Elvis once shot Robert Goulet.

6) Though the sound of the big bang does sound like something out of science fiction rather than science fact, it doesn't sound as dramatic as you might expect.

7) Robots have tasted blood, and we should consider putting them all down.

Lately, one of my favorite daily fixes in my RSS feeds has been Anacrusis, daily pieces of short fiction that are exactly 101 words long. Usually enjoyable, sometimes inspiring (at least to me as a time-starved writer), and always worth reading. Check it out.

Here's a video-demo of what my buddy Bezzy and his crew have been working on for a while now--a great little game called Goo. Anyone want to help me campaign to get it on Xbox Live?
