Over on Grubb Street, Jeff points to a story discussing how the Washington quarter vote I mentioned a few days ago was apparently hacked--which is a bummer, as I was with Jeff in supporting the much-cooler Orca quarter. The vote has been reset, and you can now go and be part of the poll, which now sounds much less binding. Here's hoping other voters (and eventually the governor) see the value in a novel and attractive design rather than a safe and boring design similar to so many of the quarters we've already seen. Yo, gamer--you old school? You remember Out of this World and it's even more obscure sequel, Another World? Would you believe there's a rerelease with a total visual upgrade of Another World coming out tomorrow? Believe it! Check out the Another World project site. You'll have to pay for it , but it looks like it will be worth it. For cheap old-schoolers, I offer Dungeon Escape. Still fun, but not so much with the visual upgrading. Tuesday, April 11, 2006
Those wondering what was up with the map on the blast door on Lost a few weeks back might be interested in checking out the fan-driven decoding of the map, which gives more solid (potential) answers than the rest of the show has all season. About the polar bear, if nothing else. The sky over Portsmouth harbour was the colour of television tuned to a dead channel. Masts, tethered by monofilament stays, clustered like antennae, and the ships' rigging robots crawled around through the spars like so many spiders. I looked away from the moorings and gave my attention to the street. You live here, now, I reminded myself, as I did daily. I pushed through the crush of bodies, sailors on leave and whores out to take them for all they had and the multitude of others who lived on the crumbs left by the navy: arms dealers, victuallers, virus-makers, the usual suspects. The war meant that business was booming, and everyone was here to hustle. The Lamb was relatively quiet at this time of day, though. The door buzzed open and I ducked inside. Bush was behind the bar, as usual, lit blue and red by the holographic Union Jack above his head. He limped over to pour me a drink, servos in his leg whining. Brilliant: Horatio Hornblower, cyberpunk style (via Making Light.) Sunday, April 09, 2006
Give your two cents Washington's twenty-five. I went with the whale, if only to make Washington stand out from the crowd. Not a bad trailer remix: Titanic--Two the Surface (via the Slog.) |
