This is my jaw dropping:

"After extensive evaluation, Vivendi Universal Games is pleased to announce that the fan developed trilogy project ‘The Silver Lining' (previously known as King's Quest IX: Every Cloak Has A Silver Lining), based on characters from Sierra Entertainment's King's Quest series, has been given approval to continue development. We look forward to seeing the first of its three upcoming chapters, ‘Shadows', completed soon."

That's right--the fan-made King's Quest IX has been officially saved! Fantastic news!

I hang out on the SA Forums quite a bit, but I rarely look at the front page anymore. So thanks to Jason for the pointer to their National Novel Writing Month "Aftermath". Among the stories SA claims were written:
  • Seven stories in which Hulk Hogan and Randy Savage switch bodies and have to solve a murder onboard the International Space Station.
  • 47 wrongly submitted letters to the editors of Reader's Digest that met the 50,000 word requirement.
  • Two novels that feature Wilford Brimley traveling to the heart of a black hole to rescue a tractor. Both end with his mustache overpowering the singularity and destroying half the known universe.
