Words for the wise from the mouth of a fool.

There are some pretty insane videos available over at Superhandz. The top couple are okay, and at the bottom are the speed stacking videos that were floating around the web a couple years ago...but in between are the pen spinning videos. Watch, and prepare to be amazed.

Via Uncle Guns, a great little Japanese Flash dodging game.

"Dance Dance Immolation is an adaptation of the popular arcade video game Dance Dance Revolution, but with fire! Basically, you play DDR; when you do well, the computer shoots big propane blasts up into the air. When you do poorly, it shoots you in the face with flamethrowers. Yes, you, as in your actual corporeal body. And yes, flamethrowers, like the kind that are on fire.

(via multiple sources over the last few days.)

pictureVia Boing Boing, the amazing BoneClones, purveyors of incredible replica skeletons from murdered Spanish Conquistidors and ancient megabears to manatee hands and giraffe heads.

A great story about the author of fortune cookie fortunes. Were I in New York, I would be among those probably lining up outside the offices of Wonton Food right now to apply for the new opening (via Boing Boing.)

Brush up your current sf literary theory! Start quoting it now (*)!

First, the Mundane Manifesto:

"The Mundanes recognize that interstellar travel remains unlikely. Warp drives, worm holes, and other forms of faster-than-light magic are wish fulfillment fantasies rather than serious speculation about a possible future. That magic interstellar travel can lead to an illusion of a universe abundant with worlds as hospitable to life as this Earth. This is also unlikely. That this dream of abundance can encourage a wasteful attitude to the abundance that is here on Earth.

In response last week came the Infernokrusher Movement:

I blew up the plums
that were in the icebox
and which you were probably saving for breakfast
forgive me
I like fire

Which is blossoming nicely with the speed of a roiling mushroom cloud, via "Molotovs At Dawn: An Infernokrusher Response To The Mundane Manifesto":

"We laugh maniacally in the face of serious speculation. We will have warp drives... on our MONSTER TRUCKS! We will have worm holes... and bullet holes, and drill holes, and holes punched through the very fabric of the spacetime continuum by the giant fist of MECHAGODZILLA! These are not wish fulfillment fantasies. These are metaphors for the destruction that is an integral part of every possible future. And more importantly, they're fun."

Do I have to pick? Can I have 'self-respect' on Monday, Wednesday and Thursday, and 'fun' on three-day weekends and Tuesday?

On the eve of preparing a new campaign using the classic Mayfair Games system, I discover that a new DC Heroes RPG is coming from Black Industries, the RPG imprint of Games Workshop.

From Milwaukee, news that the dastardly Dr. Chaos has escaped justice yet again.
