Wow. I am now officially in awe of the stills I'm seeing from the upcoming Hellboy movie. In fact, in my hierarchy of geekery, I'd say it ranks above just about every comic book movie I've heard is in production.

The Unh! Project, which purports to collect sound effects from comics, but seems really to be just a means of making fun of particularly absurd comic panels--like this one. (via the J-Walk, sponser of the 3rd Annual Nigerian Email Conference)

A post on Metafilter today directed me to the qualifying questions for the Google Puzzle Championship, and I spent a happy hour this afternoon toiling away to the solutions. Good fun. Of course, Mefi being Mefi, I've also been pointed to last year's full challenge. 14 pages of puzzles. Fun for days...

Because I know you all have copious spare time and nothing better to do, here's the pattern for a Luigi paper doll.

You know, now I see why Patrick calls OD "Youth Being Wasted on the Young". Perhaps I can appease him by posting a link to the funniest thing I saw all day, HERCUBUSH!, even if it will irk the fellows at the WIReport.

I remember hearing about the BMWFilms game while it was going on, and after the great experience I had with the AI Game, I definitely wanted to play...but didn't have the time to get sucked in. So I'm glad to have stumbled across a recap of the game. Sounds like it was a lot of fun. It might be time to visit the Collective Detective and see if there are any loose threads to investigate...

On a related note, it now looks as though you can order a DVD of BMW's Hire films, though it's unclear to me whether it's a) the DVD Jon already has of all the Season One movies, b) just the Season Two movies, or c) a compilation of everything to date. I suspect one of the latter two answers, and I'm willing to spend four bucks to find out.

UPDATE: It was pointed out to me that the copy clearly says "8 films", which means that all Season 1 and 2 movies are on the disc. Excellent.

For Alias fans, Michael Giacchino has posted snippets of second-season music on the Alias section of his website. A full soundtrack disc can't come soon enough, as far as I'm concerned.

I believe that the tracks posted for Medal of Honor: Frontline are new as well, so grab those and enjoy. I still maintain that since he hit the scene with the first MOH game, Giacchino has been out-Williamsing John Williams. Fantastic stuff.

UPDATE: Apparently the soundtrack to MOH: Allied Assault, which has been heretofore unreleased, is on the bonus CD for the Allied Assault Deluxe boxed set. I already own the game, but I admit to being tempted....

Via the J-Walk, a pretty cool collection of Chicago area signage, gathered for both humor and typographic value. My favorite of the lot: the Common Sense Novelty Company (Google doesn't turn up much about the CSNCo., sadly. Something to research another day.)
