Okay, kids--I'm off to my high school reunion. See you Monday.

A peek into Linus Pauling's notebooks--kinda neat for voyuers of scientific history...

Strange but true: I'm buying a sandwich for lunch and the woman behind the register sees my Madison Blues Festival T-Shirt. It turns out that she's friends with the mother of Susan Tedeschi, and Tedeschi stays with her whenever she's in town. Small world.

Still having fun with my camera. Of course it's been easy to mess around taking pictures of plants and line and texture and shape and form--now I need to start taking pictures of people.

And I've been kicked by the wind,
robbed by the sleet,
had my head stove in but I'm still on my feet,
and I'm still...

I love the idea of this site (found via Mefi), cataloguing the contents of a life, and I particularly like the contents of the Ikea drawers--especially some of the artworks.

I have to go to the dentist next week, and you can be sure I'll ask about getting one of these (thanks to Tim for the link.)

SCIENCE!

"The successful teleporting test involving a laser beam of light being disembodied in one location and rebuilt in a different spot about one meter away in the blink of an eye."

How valid is "blink of an eye" as a unit of measurement in an experiment involving the movement of light? Discuss.

I was wondering why AudioGalaxy had suddenly become useless. Now I know.

TMBG is coming out with a new kids' album, and you should go listen to the samples and play the games.

That site led me to the page of the site designer, The Chopping Block (whom I remember doing cover work for us back in my Tor days). I would like to nominate them for Best. Company. Theme. Evar.

So I bought a digital camera this weekend, and I'm completely hooked. I've already taken a couple hundred pictures; I love the freedom from consequence of the digital camera--I found myself just taking pictures, knowing that I wouldn't run out of film and that I could easily weed out the crappy pictures. The desire to set up a phtoo gallery of some sort will probably push me to do my long-overdue overhaul of this site, but for now here's a collage of some of my favorites from over the weekend:
