Ah, the joys of multitasking. I'm enjoying the archive of Alias episodes Tivo'ed up by a friend in one window, and investigating the online thing going on intertwined with the mysteries of the show in another. My first impression is that it doesn't seem quite as good as the A.I. Game, but I'll buy in for even a fraction of that, especially when it's connected to a good show. Woo! It's windy today; driving over to work I just about got blown off the highway. It feels like mid-April rather than mid-March--not that I'm complaining, mind you. Today's cool reading: an analysis of Al-Qaeda tradecraft I stumbled across while doing some web research on espionage. Back to work. Friday, March 08, 2002
Conversing with Jon via ICQ about my problems viewing his blog earlier today: Inkslinger: (1:45 PM) Yeah, I think it might have been my connection. Weird. I got the ad, but none of the content. Jon: (1:46 PM) Ah, just like television. Thursday, March 07, 2002
Posting from a friend's house; I've been looking for a place to buy empty DVD cases, and they have found it for me. Thanks, Lianna. Artists should probably research their subject before starting work on something that will be reproduced millions of times. From Yahoo's front page news headlines, as of 4:15 PM CST:
Great; now we have to worry about being attacked by the weather? Pretty soon I'm going to start buying into the ravings of paranoids... I noticed I've been getting a lot of hits from Blogdex today, and wondered why. Well, if you look at their latest charts, then look at the sources for the (as of this writing) top link "google bombs", guess whose post yesterday is in the top slot? Weird. I can't say I undestand the mechanics behind Blogdex yet (other than that I find interesting links there), but I'm always glad to see more traffic stopping by. Hello, hi, howdy, to all you strangers. Stick around and I'll soon put you out of your misery; either you'll be entertained, or you'll be bored to death. Either way, you win! Human Head's intrepid Mick Beard reported in from England today, sending us a scan of a review of Rune: Viking Warlord for the PS2 in PSW, an English review mag. (No I can't give you a link to their website; apparently they don't have one.) I might be more bothered by the fact that they didn't like it if it weren't so obvious that they really hadn't played the game all that much. F'rinstance, here's what they identify as one of the game's weapons:
Okay, we do have the Goblin War Club in the game, but that's not it. All I can figure is that they somehow got a screenshot of an unlit torch and decided it was a weapon. And they wonder why developers aren't big fans of game magazines. I mean, they might as well have included this:
If you're carrying a baby or walking a dog, they're not smiling at you. Wednesday, March 06, 2002
Well, I just discovered that my ICQ has been set to "Not Available" for the last...five days?...when I was, in fact, available. So if you've been trying to get ahold of me and can't, there you go. Of course, there's always email. Tuesday, March 05, 2002
"The 6.0-liter pushrod V-8 emits an audacious whoopitah-whaaaAAAAHH-ing sound that will remind your wife what time you came home and will never be confused with an Orbital two-stroke or a Hoover upright. It may frighten your horses. We mention horses because Cadillac mentioned them first. "This is a great vehicle for suburbanites who own horses," they said. " --from what is, without a doubt, the best Car and Driver SUV review that has or will ever be written. If you've been following the ongoing story regarding the Georgia crematorium--or maybe even if you haven't--you'll find this page headed by a disturbing scoreboard... A site I'm posting for my mom, a online reference collection regarding the orphan trains. Interesting stuff. Monday, March 04, 2002
"He's even made April Fool's Day boring." Thanks, Karla. And I'm quite certain I'm not the only one who would enjoy looking through the archive of ads from old comic books you've discovered on adflip. (For many more Hostess ads, go here; I particularly like the one where Batman uses cupcakes to stop the League of Assassins.) I currently have my entire comic collection in my living room--or is it that my living room fills the little space surrounding my comic collection? Either way, I'll have to pull out some old classic ads and scan them in. The archive might have the Hubba Bubba Gumfighting ad, but there's nary a sign of the classic Doctor J "Spalding Touch" ad, or the cardboard atomic submarine... UPDATE: I've been browsing through the other ads on adflip, and found some great ones: * "Keep Convienience in Your Cupboard". * "The Shock Absorber Tree" * "Go 'Flight-Seeing'!" You don't have to like Kevin Smith, but you have to like a poster of Bear Who Drive Car. How can that be? ![]() |
