A Gizmodo discussion on what gadgets would be handy to have around during a blackout pointed me towards a device of which I was heretofore blissfully unaware: USB-powered toothbrushes. I think Raggedy Andy and I will be just fine without power, thanks.

From the same thread, a bit of resourcefulness I do admire:

"I took three old 80mm computer fans, hooked them up to a 12 volt drill battery, and had a fan blowing on me all night. I even ran speaker wire through all of the screw holes which hooked them up in a nice three fold fashion."
