Last Wednesday the Wisconsin Report quoted "Those whom the gods would destroy, they first make famous" from a Washington Post column about Karl Rove. In search of the original quote and its proper attribution (Quem deus vult perdere, prius dementat--"Those whom the gods wish to destroy, they first make mad", from Euripides, to the best of my quick Googling), it was interesting to see the variant quotes I found along the way: Apparently those whom the gods would destroy, they may also make crazy, confident, proud, Geraldo Rivera, angry, prophetic, l33t, golfers, passionate, great, writers, and President. Who knew?
